Hello. It's very nice to meet you all!!
I am originally from Japan and have been teaching Japanese at various schools including colleges, high schools, etc. since 1994. I started teaching online last year, using VoiceThread, Adobe Connect, and Zoom.
I have taken Heike's online class several month ago and really loved it, so I can't wait to join this course!
Oh fabulous to have someone with experience teaching online. I hope you share! Can't wait to hear.
ReplyDeleteIt’s nothing to do with teaching but here is a promotion video I made this week! youtube.com - Hybrid Level 1 Japanese
ReplyDeleteSlick video
ReplyDeleteoh, wow, Yuko, this is brilliant. You must teach us how to do such kind of videos! Amaaaazing....
ReplyDeleteYuko Kato Sugoi!! Love the video - the manga's great and it's all superbly done - made me feel like I want to take the course and start learning Japanese again!
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you here Yuko Kato. I'd forgotten about VoiceThread but used in back in 2009 briefly so I'm curious to see what it's like now! How are you using it in online teaching?
ReplyDeleteVance, Heike, and Phil-
ReplyDeleteThank you! 70-80% of my students are anime fans, so I made it to be appealing to the target consumers (?)
Phil Brown
ReplyDeleteAll of my students are working—most of them work more than 20-30 hours per week while taking 1-2 classes (!), so I create a VoiceThread and give them a plenty time to complete the online tasks. This asynchronous tool has been working very well!
What an excellent video!!!
ReplyDeleteHow long did it take to make that?
How long have you been making videos?
Steven Herder Thank you! Well, I've been taking college classes to learn video editing since 2015. It still takes some time, but I got help from my nephew, who is a movie director of modern B movies in Japan. He taught me lots of tips, such as where to get copyright free anime pictures, etc.
