Dear all, I have finally managed to record my FIRST ever online lesson!!!!
Being an immigrant to the era of advanced ICT technologies, I didn't press on recording button and wasted + Heike's time.Shame on me!!! I asked + Heike to be my student for week 1 assignment on the day of recording the week 2 task. Heike kindly agreed. I didn"t do the recording, but I learned how to solve some technical issues on Zoom. Thank you + Heike.
Then I asked + Marianna Casoria to be my learner for the task. She not only agreed, she gave some additional instructions on the recording process. Marianna was of great help. Sooo here we are ..
The lesson is based on this year"s Oscar winning short silent film Piper. The story is great. But the lesson is longer than10 min. :( ...Sorry

The story is great, the lesson is great, and the teacher is great!
ReplyDeleteThank you my great student, and teacher at the same time, dear marianna casoria
ReplyDeleteHapoy to have met you on the course.
Thank you for being patient and encouraging marianna casoria
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mariia!
ReplyDeleteI like this lesson a lot because you are creating a great bit of anticipation by asking to listen to a silent film. I also learned that it is not easy to transmit the system sound because when Mariia wanted to start screensharing she didn't want to show the beginning of the video so as not to give away the surprise element. Also when transmitting system sound you can not have the speakers open too because this creates an echo and noise. It was challenging! But I enjoyed it very much.
ReplyDeleteMariia Ruban, wonderful job done!
ReplyDeleteDear Heike Philp thank you sooo much for the feedback on my lesson, as well as on the issues people might have in similar situarions. And for the teaching moments while online.
ReplyDeleteI know the lesson needs refinment. There isn't much dynamic and might bore generation Z learners. They need much action.
Words fail to express how happy I am to be on the course. Thank ypu for helping teachers develop and be up to date.
Oh, forgot to mention that I'd come across this animated film on + Barbara's FB page and had fallen in love with it in an instant. Thank you + Barbara Hoskins Sakamoto for sharing this masterpiece.
Heike Philp Mariia Ruban How is this done - sharing the sound only from a video? I liked the idea a lot and would like it out... ;-) I dont' think it's boring for any generation as the student is constantly engaged in a task ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa Wood . And the tachnical solutions are on Heike Philp , i mean she could explain ;)
ReplyDeleteHeike had headphones on, and that could have been the problem. I didn't have those with Marianna at the Zoom lesson.
